Strength Training After 60 and 70 in Algonquin: Start Where You Are
Many people think their 60s and 70s are the time to slow down. And yes, sometimes they are. But slowing down doesn’t mean stopping.
We have clients in their 60s, 70s, and even their 80s. Their workouts may look different from back squats, burpees, and box jumps. They are still purposeful and challenging.
Build a body that supports your life
What matters to you? Playing with grandchildren? Getting up from a chair? Getting down to the floor—and back up? Continuing to travel or ride your horse?
Those goals deserve a place in your training.
Strength is part of the picture. So are balance, coordination, mobility, and regular activity. Public-health guidance for adults 65 and older includes aerobic activity, muscle-strengthening activity, and balance work.
Different people need different starting points
A supported squat may be right for one person. Another may be ready to lift more weight. Someone returning after a joint replacement may need changes to position and range, consistent with their rehabilitation guidance.
We can adjust support, repetitions, resistance, and exercise selection. Progress comes from finding an appropriate challenge and building on it.
At Premier Fitness Solutions in Algonquin, we coach the person in front of us. Your age helps us understand your context; it doesn’t tell us everything about your abilities.
You don’t have to keep up with someone else. Start where you are, and give yourself room to grow.
